I am shooting an Elite gt500 set at 59lbs and shooting maxima 250's at 340grains and also have some easton axis that are 380grains. I shoot the maximas at 293fps and the axis at 277. when I did the KE they are both coming out to 64lbs of kenetic energy. I hear everyone say KE KE KE but if they are coming out the same would you go with the faster flater shooting arrow?

the set up you have will probably work for almost anything in the states. The speed is nice, but i can tell you that the heavier slower arrow at longer distances will have less drop that the lighter arrow and the penetration on the heavier srrow will penetrate a little better. may not be noticeable at shorter distances, but maybe at onger distance and maybe the penetration on thick skinned or larger animals such as big hogs or elk. i did a test on different arrow weights and posted the results on this site.

I always liked lighter arrows for the speed, until I had a bad experience with poor penetration on an animal.
I switched to Easton FMJ arrows, total arrow weight of right at 500gr, up from 400gr with my Maximas. I have not shot any animals with them yet, or shot them through a chronograph, but they sure as heck make my bow shoot a whole lot QUIETER!!!!
