    Rocksprings Area - Anthrax

Been searching leases and I've been hearing some rumblings about an antrhax outbreak in the Rocksprings area over the past year. Any truth to it or am I just hearing rumors?

It's rumors, there was an artical released about a month ago by wildlife biologists with TPWD addressing the reason for the low harvest numbers in Edwards County. This past season was the first in many years that the deer harvest numbers were this low. I believe that there was roughly 100k harvested when typicaly the numbers are above
300k. They flew night surveys with F.L.I.R. and there are roughly a million deer accounted for in the Edwards County. They are asking that the ranchers and lease managers feed year round to provide forage supplement for them and if not they will have a company come in and slaughter the number of deer needed to sustain a healthy population due to lack of forage for a population of it's size. They stated that this has been seen before and there was a massive die off due to a lack of forage and such a large population. If they bring in the company to kill the animals to bring the population to sustainable numbers they will donate all the meat to food banks and charity.

There is no mistaking when there is an anthrax outbreak it kills everything, cattle, dogs, cats, birds, ect.

I will say that this season something has changed we spoke with several large ranches around us and we all had the same issue, deer went nocturnal as soon as the season started. For the most part even on our place most deer movement was caught on game cam between 11:00 pm to about 3:00 am. and there was plenty of deer.
