Increasing arrow speed without sacrificing KE

Chronographed my new/used 2003 Hoyt Razortec XT2000 with some Beman 9.3 arrows today (8.3 gpi @ 29") and a 65# draw but could only get about 270 FPS. What else can I do besides tuning the bow all the way down to a 70# draw. I like a little heavier arrow for the KE but I also want something that's in the 280-290 range, that's obviously not an ideal, just a random number I have in my head. I think this is a classic case of wanting the best of both worlds. Anyone have any advice?

Also, got to shoot a z7, holy crap what an awesome bow, but way outta my price range.

What do you have on the string? Perhaps take off a kisser button and put a kisser made of thread? do you have whiskers or leeches?

5# will only net you about 12 to 15 fps and taking anything off and changing things on your string might net 3 to 5 fps. Waht you are producing will harverst anything in the states. I am currently looking at increasing my arrow weight in the front to get more foc and decreasing my speed, but will get close to the same KE and more momentum.

Why worry about it??? Your current bow shoots just fine, ,I will take a slow quiet bow over a fast loud one anyday, all this speed speed speed stuff is way over rated..

No whiskers, I do have some leeches on there though.

I actually want to get more FPS so I can get more KE to be honest.

Things that affect speed and K.E.
            (1)--bow design
Some bows are just faster, and therefore produce more K.E.

            (2)--poundage-(more is more)
(3)-- draw-length-(longer is more, but if it is too long, you won't shoot it well.A bow needs to fit the shooter)
(4)--arrow weight-(less is faster, heavier is slower but in nearly all instances produces more K.E.)
