    AR-15 Optics?

Just thought I would get some opinions. I just purchased an AR from a fellow TBHer, and need to put some glass on it. I have a good 3-9 but I kind of want something that allows for more short-range shooting, too (coons). Also would like to keep under $200 or so.....

I just bought a Vortex red dot from Arrowsmith on here. So far it is great. If you are going to be shooting over 150 yards or so I would go with a scope but less than that I think the red dot is great

Vortex 1x30 StrikeFire Red Dot 30mm Sight 149.95

I have this on my M4 platform and have had no problems.
It is good out to 100.00 yards with out the magnifier. (Oh yea it comes with the magnifier)

Very good. I have shot a few varmits with mine. No problems. But I also Surefire weapon lights that help with this. I will get you some pictures of my rig here in a little bit.

This is not a bad option but you still have to buy rings and bases for it too.

Here is my ride. I like the simple functions that it has and it still holds a zero.

I hate to hijack the thread but I was wondering what everyone's opinions are for a cheap, yet decent nightvision scope would be for doing some varmit hunting?

Rather than spend money on a CHEAP NV, you would be better served with a cheap 50mm scope with a varmit light..

Yeah I thought of the same thing, what I came up with for NV is Gen 3 or nothing. Spend lots of money for high performance, or throw away money on something cheap.

My current setup, cost being a primary consideration.....Weaver V3 1-3x20 ($160), Burris PEPR mount ($70). Total of a little over $250 in the setup with Butler Creek caps on the scope.

Wide FOV and ability to acquire close-range targets with both eyes open on 1x, enough magnification for 300yd precision on 3x.
