SB XT 62# with 27" draw and beeman ics hunters 400

Would you shoot mechanicals out of this setup. Never thought I would try them but seems to be a year of trying many broadheads and thought a mechanical would be something to try as well. My arrows are cut to 26.5 inches but I have never chronoed the bow. 3 blade muzzys, mx-4s and slick tricks fly well but I was thinking about a mechanical for turkeys and perhaps a deer. Do you think it is feasable and a good decision to try mechanicals and if so what have you used and would recommend for good arrow flight, shaprness, good penetration, and blood trails. I realize this has been discussed many times but my search turned up nothing so I thought I could open the topic up one more "gan." Thanks for your time

I would not have a problem shooting mechnicals out of that set up. I personally have shot Spitfires and I liked them. For some odd reason I wanted to go back to a fixed blade for this year. There are some new mechnical heads that look very promising but for the life of me I can not remember the name. All that I know is they open different than standard mechnicals. I believe the heads that I am thinking of are Rage expandable broadheads.

I shoot the same poundage, - just a little longer draw length. You would have no problem with Rocket Steelheads and their 1 1/8' cut. With that same set-up, I've also had pass thrus, and I mean "buried in the ground pass-thrus" on deer with the Rocket Sidewinders. They are 1 1/2". I don't think I'd go any bigger than that though...

bear... My setup is very similar: 60# SB XT with 27.5" Axis 400's set at 28" draw.I think it shoots somewhere in the 250fps range with that arrow. I shot a pig with a grim reaper this summer (1 3/8" 3 blade mechanical) and that arrow went through about 18" of pig then stuck several inches in the ground on the other side. I would not hesitate putting that combo through a deer, in fact I'd like to just to watch them dive around 30yds after the hit. Unfortunately my setups are ultra-close encounters and for me the mesh seems to really help... so no mechanicals on deer.

i shoot an outback set at 60lbs with a 29 in draw with easton lightspeeds and wasp jack hammers with a 1 3/4 in cut and had a pass through on a javilina but havent had the chance to shoot a deer with them yet this year
