    Polaris Ranger XP

Any leads on who has the best price in the state? I'm currently getting quotes between 10,200 and 10,500. I am north of Dallas but would be willing to travel for a good deal, especially if I can find a place that will take my golf cart on trade.

Oh, and if anyone wants to try talk me out of the Ranger, please feel free. My research leads me to believe that they're the best. Any other opinions?

I've found after buying countless ATVs, etc....that the value gained from buying local and getting a better/quicker response from their service dept. ... outweighs saving a $100 - $300

you might try searching for the best price and then trying to get a local dealer to match it.

      Grayson,

I know that Action Power Sports in Ennis advertises that they will beat any deal in Texas... They are on the East side of I45 on the North side of town. May be worth giving them a call.

I will agree with what Jamie said. I know Lip went through this last year and ended up buying from the dealer in Onalaska/Livingston. I talked to him the other day and his prices were about $300 under my local dealer. He was much friendlier than my local dealer.

I too would agree with Jamie. I lucked out and my local dealer was far cheaper than any around the Houston area. When I purchased my tractor the older man told me- you can go buy it from XX down the road but when you need service are you going to haul it over there or right here close.....lot of truth to that. He told me- I will service it no doubt, but I take care of my customers first and then others warranty work, etc. I purchased it from him right there that day.

I need to take my ranger in right now. It is not charging. Middleton and I almost had to do some long walking a couple weeks ago. I put a new battery in and still no charging based on fluke readings and comparison to another ranger. They said stator generally dont fail but voltage regulator or something. First problem I have had with mine in 3 years.

I love it and I am very pleased with mine.

Jamie owns a few rangers and Rhinos as well, he can tell you about how they compare probably better than anyone here!

I have owned a Ranger for over a year now and have been very pleased. I went to a handful of dealers around the Houston area. All of them seemed to be fairly close to the same price. One thing to note is the first thing the dealer will do is try and add 600-900 dollars for assembly fees and inventory taxes. I bought mine at Gene's Power Sports in Baytown, since they knocked off those extra expenses and took a little off the bottom line, and threw in a roof. Guess it's also a matter of catching a dealer at a good time also.

I'm not one to talk anybody out of a Ranger, but one thing I would say is save your money and go with the 500cc/30 h.p. model. Even all the sales people told me the xp 700 did nothing more than drink more gas. Believe me, the 500has plenty of power.

I just bought and 07 XP. I priced them here in Houston then back home where I bought my old Polaris 4 wheeler. The base price was the same,MSRP, but the dealer back home did not throw in all those extra fees. The drive out price was about $400 cheaper.

I have not driven an XP 700 and I know it is hard for a man to say "too much power" but my 500 hauls butt with three adults and a over load of corn. I can crawl straight up creek banks and hills while playing around and have never powered out in low. I can not imagine needing anything more than the 500. If there is much price difference I too would stick with the 500!

It made the ride in all those rocks out in the hill country this weekend enjoyable. Casey and I always caught our selves cringing when we came up to big rocks. No need to cringe the rangers independant suspension smooths out the ride.

The 700 has plenty of power as well. 600# of corn in the bed, Casey,Justin and I riding in it and it would still run 40 MPH.

in 2004 I paid 8400 for the ranger and then added roof, grill/light guard, 5 year warranty, and was out the door at like 10 even. Crazy what they cost, but man they are fun!

FYI- they have cracked down on "farm use" no taxes. If you are qualify you had better take a diesel permit or schedule F to prove it.

                          Grayson,

I drove mine out with TTL, top and 4 year no deductible extended warranty for $12,500

If I would have had time and which I'll pobably do is make me steel plate top for it. The Poly top is not worth the money. Casey and I almost ripped it off twice on Saturday.

Have to agree. The independent suspension was a key selling point for me. I also liked the 1000 lb bed capacity. For me it was between the Polaris and the Yamaha. The Yamaha had independent suspension, but the bed capacity was only 400 lbs. I've never loaded my Polaris to the limit, but safely can say it will run fine with 800 or so pounds in the back.

How rocky is the road there?

Don't mean to hijack but was wondering if something like this would work on my lease. The roads in places are very rocky and bumpy. And in a few places pretty steep. On one part I usually carry a bag of corn on the front of my 4 wheeler to add extra weight for going up the hill. Even then it seems tricky in 4 low. Presently I have a polaris 450 4x4.

Anyway, here are a couple pics of one of the roads. Anyone think a Ranger could handle this. I know it is tough to tell from a pics, any opinion is welcome.

                              Thanks!
