"No judgement will be passed in this place... I would hope!"
Too late. It started as soon as "Froggy" started this thread. Just look at posts 2, 4, 8-11, 17, and especially 12.
I really like how once bmalone0688 stated, "one of these men is my dad. if yall have any questions i'd be more than happy to answer them.," the entire focus of the thread suddenly shifted from what a bunch of low-lifes his family was, and how these inbred people should be hanged, etc., to how everyone hoped he could somehow rise above it all and how everyone is innocent until proven guilty. Oh, the initial support.
I've never heard of any of these people or Wise county, for that matter. Maybe they really are some bad people, I don't know. But nobody should off-handedly offer opinion/judgement so flippantly because there is always another side to every story.

Here's another article that talks about the situation and includes information about the grandfather:
Police Raid Malone Property
Renegade woodsmen
Gene Malone, father of the five brothers involved in the crime ring, died in 2005. When he was alive, the home and property was nothing like it is today. He was an avid hunter, fisher and honey producer. At one point he cared for 160 bee colonies. He captured the bees himself from the wild.
Gene was a renowned woodsman and master tracker.
"He was a No. 1 outdoorsman," said widow Wilda Malone, 73, in a prior interview. "He was born about 200 years too late."
"He was a well-known outdoorsman," said Game Warden Chris Dowdy. "He could survive well in the outdoors."
He imparted this knowledge to his sons. Unfortunately, investigators believe, they used it mostly for ill.
Dowdy confiscated deer antlers and other animal remains to use as possible evidence of poaching. They also confiscated a protected velvet tail rattlesnake from a barn on the property.
He said the Malone boys have poached deer illegally for about 30 years. Not only in Wise County, but in surrounding counties as well.
They commonly trespassed and allegedly poached animals, such as deer and turkey and fish. They've also been accused of stealing all types of items.
"They were capable of being some of the best hunters in the world," Dowdy said. "But they got involved in extracurricular activities like drug production and wildlife violations."
According to investigators, many people in the area lived in fear and intimidation of the Malone gang. When they trespassed and poached, many landowners kept quiet due to possible retaliation by the clan. There is one story of the Malones setting a man's house on fire after he turned one in for trespassing.
"I consider these guys domestic terrorists," Lanier said.
"But as long as they were just shooting a turkey or a deer and weren't stealing something, most people just let 'em be," Dowdy said.
But as time wore on, landowners quit tolerating the behavior.
"Fortunately, a group of landowners stepped up and said 'We don't want these guys around any more,'" Dowdy said.
He said his department gives a big thanks to all the landowners who started providing tips for the case.
"People need to realize that the more they help us, the more we can help them," Dowdy said. "Our department is extremely happy because so many game wardens have worked on this case in the past."
He encouraged anybody with any more information related to this case or any others to come forward.
Walker said he is confident the state has a strong case against the members of the ring.
Sad deal all the way around. Good luck to you, Benny Mac.

There's a bunch of good people here...law abiding types and such....many here have been through hell elsewhere...hence the banter.
Hold your head high and pray for everyone.....the hope is.....those that are guilty will learn to improve. Grandpa sounds like the right stuff.....lean hard on those genetics and continue to carry his torch!Last edited by AtTheWall; 02-08-2010, 04:01 PM.

Even good people fall into that meth trap and the family suffers as well. My wifes sister is about to get out of prison for getting caught up in it. And until then she was staight laced and no criminal history, then went off the deep end head first and got caught. Hang in there BMalone0688 and pray for them
