i beileve that a record is in the 36 plus range. we have has some 34 and 36 shot on my game ranch. i remember hearing tale of a 42 somewhere her in texas. check out http://www.exoticwildlifeassociation.com/ this is where they will keep all the records. we have a few black bucks that are listed in the trophy game records of the world record book.

I would like to know also, and also is there a time limit on when you can register a record book entry... I shot an axis last year that was 35 1/2" x 36" and scored 164.95... Im not sure if it would make record book but how do I go about getting an official scorer and/or getting it entered. And which is the best to register it with, I was suggested SCI by the taxidermist and I browsed their record book entries and they dont seem to be that high for typical entries.

                  tamu bspeck,

if you have one that scores 164.95 you are way up there in the rankings. i'm pretty sure that's gonna put you in the top 100 anywhere you look. you should really think about having everything made official and get your buck the recognition it deserves. congrats on a huge axis!

thanks alot noflyzone, but how do I go about doing that. I had the taxidermist score it non-officially of course, but I need to know which is best to register with? ROE? and how do I find someone to officially score him? I actually got screwed on the scoring because I got the deduction for velvet but he was already coming out of velvet, tips were all completely out and I didnt gain very little if any mass at all by the velvet.

Records of Exotics information is available at www.roe.texaswildlife.net. Scoring forms and medal information is avavilable for all exotics. Thompson Temple is the person who started ROE so if you have any other questions I would contact him. Nice axis by the way!
