Need some advice

My partner(not that way) and I are looking at opening a retail store in the Weatherford area. We are just in the begining stages and are needing some advice.

If you are a store owner or have been in the past, I have a few questions:

What are some things that you did right in the begining?

Things you did wrong?

Things you would have done different?

Did you use loans for your capital?

What loan agencies do you reccomend?

Try the SBA for start up loans.

Watch the # of hours you try to put in, don't burn yourself out.

My #1 suggestion is if you are going to try and take a hobby and turn it into a business, don't.

I took my archery/bowhunting habit and turned it into a business and it almost truned me off to shooting a bow and hunting with a bow. Too many hours spent at the business, not enough free time.

If you own your own business, there are 2 things people are going to think about you:

1. You have all the money you need or want.
2. Since you own the business, then you can take off as much time as you want or need.

In both cases, most are wrong and most are wrong because they have never owned their own business.
