Having PC's all my life and here at work, what's all the buzz about Mac's. Hillary, give me a rundown on one. Computer about to go down and I don't even want to think about the process of buying new one. Should I at least take a look at a Mac??

Macs are awesome. My macbook laptop i bought 2 1/2 years ago is still as fast today as the day i bought it with no adware, spyware, and viruses. almost everything is now being offered with a mac version.

You know, they are great machines once you learn to use one.
But MAC's, I will admit, are geared toward "creative" processes.

I use both a MAC and a PC, PC for work, MAC for pictures, videos, etc.
They have better graphics, an AMAZING support system, they don't get viruses, (yes, they can get viruses, but they re not only uncommon, but your computer can notice one immediately, and fix itself)

The 2 main bumps you get along the way are learning how to use a MAC OS (operating system), and getting past the price.

I learned how to use a MAC by watching their support videos online at apple.com. If you do not want to learn, or put in the effort to learn how to get the most out of your MAC, then, honestly, I wouldn't waste the money.

Once you learn how to use a MAC, they can make your life simple.m My Iphone backup on my computer everytime I plug it in (calendars, contacts, musice, texts, internet bookmarks, pictures...), My apple wireless router connects to my printer, so I can print using wireless connection. Safety features are outstanding. There are tons of operating "widgets" you can download online.

The list can go on and on. Yes, you can buy a PC for half the price and do a lot with it easliy, but you can get a MAC, learn how to use it and make you life simple, if it fits your lifestyle.

I bought my notebook 2 years ago and it is still going strong, never had to pay for virus protection, never had to get it worked on... so it has paid for iteself.

And those who say "you can get a mac and run windows" are just ridiculuous.

Yes it could be done, but it is not a good choice.
If you are going to go the windows route, get a PC.

I love my Mac I've owned Mac since 1989. Great machines! I can't wait to see the table! May be one in my living room soon!

It is the iSlate that will be announced "officially". Word already hit the street and it has been in development for a long time. It is being called an iTouch on steroids. Looks to be similar to a e-reader with an OS that allows more interactive use. MS beat them to the release at the Consumer Electronics Show with a HP/MS version though. It really is a new era in light, small productivity units. 1st generation though so I will let others pay into the frenzy.

Hoping its the tablet, that's what everything points to. Jobs has admitted that a tablet type device is his number one interest right now and I quote "more important to Apple than the iPhone." I think this is a product space they could really clean up on. I'm already trying to decide how I am going to finance getting one. I'm imagining netbook portability with iPhone intuitiveness. I'm hopeful for it to run full Snow Leopard apps AND iPod apps. The perfect device for being on the couch, reading before bed, travel, etc. I'll be interested to see what connectivity options it has... built in 3G? only Wi-Fi? One scenario I could see is iPhones go to multiple carriers and AT&T gets lock on 3G iSlate, and others are available simply as wi-fi versions. Noon can't get here soon enough!!!

I made the "Switch" my junior year in college and have never looked back. That first blue and white g3 served me well for 9 years before I really felt the need to upgrade. How many PC's can claim a decade long usable life cycle. The machine still runs fine, I have it as a backup and test bed, the only reason I really upgraded was for gaming and the newest OS versions don't support hardware that old. However, I can still boot that old machine up, surf the web, email, do photoshop, play some games, import and edit video, manage photos... you name it and it doesn't feel like its gasping for breath the entire time. Yeah it cost twice as much as an equivalent PC, but I had it 3x longer than most of my friends had their PC's.

It is a waste of time
MAC's OS is 10x better than Windows.

The only trouble you run into, rarely, is compatibility issues.
But there are thing that windows run, that are now being switched to a MAC, like windows office, for MAC... etc.

                        The red box = office

                          interesting..

I've been told tha Mac's are more glitz but PC's give you more guts for the money.

                          any thoughts ?

Call me silly, but I'm just about to pull the trigger on a new unibody Pro....and run windows on it

My work programs no worky with Mac, so Parallels is probably gonna be a better solution that carrying one good laptop and one crappy one!

I'm seriously hoping that the iTablet, iSlate, iHighPrice, whatever they call it will bring about a reduction in laptop prices.....probably just wishful thinking, but it sometimes pays to wait for the right moment.
