    I agree with Rob. Don't short change the shorter boats. If you're gonna be hauling it down a river bank or dragging it to a creek the short kayaks definitely have their place. I'm a little guy and the shorter ones are what I like. And in the surf the short boats rule, especially the high nosed ones like Rob was talking about.

        id say pick the longer of the 2, that short yak is good for surf but youll cover much more ground i a longer yak, i have a mini x, tarpon 160, and have had native manta ray 12, 12 is best of both worlds , you can do anythign out of it plus carries a little more weight so if you decide later to camp out of it you can load it down ,its a little faster, still very easy to move by yourelf but short enough to play in the surf at the beach with as well, great lenght for a yak, i prefer a 14, but wont be quite as stable
