    DXT for 3D?

I'm trying to get more into 3D this year and had a couple of questions I'd like to run by you guys:

First off, here's my setup: DXT 50-60 Lbs, 360 grn arrow, HHA Single Pin sight, shooting 280 fps with the limbs maxed out

I've been toying around with the idea of changing my setup so I can shoot hunter class rather than open (so I can be more competitive). Obviously I'd be putting on a multi-pin sight, but I've also been thinking about getting lighter arrows (300 grain) so I can get closer to 288 fps at a lighter draw weight (more comfortable to draw/hold).

So I guess my question is will the DXT be a good candidate for this kind of shooting or would I be better off going with something more along the lines of a Drenalin LD? It'd be nice to have two bows, one to hunt with and the other for target shooting but it'd definitely be cheaper to rig out the DXT for 3D and then change it back over to my hunting setup when deer season rolls around.

I tried to figure out a way to hunt and maximize my 3d setup. Everyone told me you will either give up speed or have too light of an arrow to hunt with.

IMO, a hunting setup that gets you at 280fps is perfect because you get tonpractice with the same gear. A longer ATA will have more forgiveness, a lighter arrow shrinks the pin gap, but is t necessarily your best option to hunt with.

If you have the option and want lighter weight, get as long of ATA as you can and throw on some fatboys!

5gr per pound of draw weight is where I would start and add a little weight if it is too fast. That is great for 3d and it is fine for hunting.

stay with what you have, and forget about 8FPS. You will not notice a difference with 8, and if it is hot and humid, you could blow over the speed limit and be DQ'd. Seen it happen too many times. Get a good multi pin sight, and go for it!!!

I shoot my hunting rig for the LSBA series. It shoots the 280fps that is the max for my class. Only change I make is going to my .395 mags.

3D is just to make me a better hunter and to help judge my distances in the field. Hunt with a DXT and gonna use it for 3D as well.
