We see the most activity from them through the spring time on our place in Kerr county!!! This is when I would hunt them the hardest....

Depends on how you hunt them. If doing spot & stalk late march - early May would be my choice as they are actively starting to rut, but they have not all herded up yet. Once they herd up, spot & stalk gets much more challenging.

If I were hunting feed, I'd go later July - Aug - it's god aweful hot, but the typically dry conditions limit the available food sources, and they come to bait much more regularly - you can bank on a short hunt that time of year as you'll only need to sit the first hour of light and the last 2-3 hours. Water can be reasonably effective that time of year too, but the long sit on water can be somewhat unbearable.

Late march is fine, you may still find a number in velvet, but there will also be plenty of hard horned bucks. If you want to go when you'll find the max % of animals in hard horn, I'd shoot for late May-June.

anytime they are around, they don't rut at the same time and they drop their antlers based on their birthday. so you could see a hard horn, velvet and just dropped all in the same group
