    Mobile Deer Stand

This is gonna sound a little off but I'm thinking of buying a used 5X10 enclosed trailer and turning it into a portable deer stand for the kids, just cut a few nice viewing/shooting windows and add collapsible shooting platforms, drop the back gate and haul the atv around. I have found several in the $700to $900 range. I was planning on building a ground up blind with an axle but this would be cheaper,, any thoughts?

    Sounds good to me!

Make sure it has a side escape door.

Flip the axle if it is a leaf spring to raise the ground clearance for rocks and stumps and ruts and such.

If possible, put tongue jacks on the back corners to allow the trailer/stand to sit more level.

I was debating using a small utility trailer, maybe 4x6 or so to build a hunting platform on.

Build the platform about 4' or so off the floor of the trailer to allow enough clearance for the 4 wheeler to ride under it and wrap the hunting platform with burlap or something that is removeable for less wind drag when towed on the highway and weight considerations.

The only advice I have to offer is post pics during the build.

I will do the pics for sure, I allready have 4 leveling jacks and have thought about adding lifting blocks under the springs to get it up 3-4"'s higher.

No blocks, just remove the u-bolts and reinstall the axle under the springs.

All of them that I have looked at the axle was on the bottom, I'm just thinking it needs to be a little higher to keep the back end from dragging so much.

Well if the axle is already under the leave spring then I suppose blocks would be the way to go.

Most little trailers I have seen are usually low to the ground for ease of loading lawn mowers so the mowing deck doesn't high-center at the top of the ramp.

Point is to raise the ground clearance however possible.

                Hey, you asked for ideers!

Go to tractor supply and buy yourself a small trailer for way less than $700.00. Build four panels that can be assembled and a roof and viola! The tractor supply here in Katy has several size trailers for under $700. If your interested PM me and Ill check it out for you.
