    Removing wraps and fletchings

Whats the best way to get remove old wraps and fletching and get the arrow clean enough to put on new wraps

    #2
A good hair dryer or boiling water has worked best from what I've seen...Hold it over the water, in the steam, then use alcohol to clean the shaft should be ready to go!

razors and acetone work for me.. if you are shooting carbon, be careful not to "dig" to far with the razor and cut into the arrow

They also sell a tool at Acadamy that works really well for something around $5..

I have a fletching remover. It works ok if I spend some time scraping. I clean with acetone and lightly sand the shaft to scuff before re-fletching

3M makes an adhesive remover that is designed to be sprayed on over plastic vinyl appliqués

I used a hair dryer to remove wraps and then cleaned with acetone.

I was told after having a couple sets of Blazer knock-offs fall off after refletching that I should not use alcohol because it had some oil or oil like properties that would interfere with the adhesion. I don't know if that is true but I went back to acetone and have not had any more problems

There's no need to use a razor.
I use Stryp- ez furniture stripper. It dissolves the wrap and adhesive, then wipe with paper towel, then do again with acetone.
Before applying new wraps and/or fletching, wipe shafts with denatured alcohol. Denatured alcohol leaves no residue.
