    Question about my Polaris Ranger

I bought an 07 Polaris Ranger XP 700 from my friend early last year. He was the original owner and wanted the new 800 RZR. He is not a hunter and the Ranger has white automotive paint and black trim.

I bought a new trailer from Charles at Maxey Trailers and had it painted metallic blue. My friends thought it was a bad choice of color, but liked it when it was delivered.

When I found out the Ranger was too high to fit in the garage while on the trailer, we cut the top half of the roll cage off and welded some pieces on both halves that would allow you to take the top half off fairly easily.

Here's my question. I want to powder coat the roll cage metallic blue to match the trailer. It at least needs painted where the welds and grinding took place. I've already got quotes for the powder coating but my friends say they definately would not go with the metallic blue. The grill guard will also be done at the same time.

What do you guys think about this choice of color?

      atombomb,

Those are my thoughts exactly, but I'm a little concerned with all the negative comments I've gotten from friends.

I've got some time to think about it because I do alot of quail hunting, so I won't get anything done until the season ends at the end of Feb.

Mods, I posted this in the wrong forum, can someone move it?

I need some more feedback guys, I'm not scared of negative comments.

atombomb and Tubby feel just like I do, but I would like some other opinions before I pull the trigger.

I always dress my vehicles to meet my taste, but I am aware that you can easily cross the line to the overkill situation.

well face it... quail hunting doesn't require camoflage.... on the deer lease, you're
gonna park it a good distance from your hunting spot, camo not needed, and a bright
paint job makes it easier to find in the brush, when you take it to pick up your deer,
he's dead and doesn't care, and last, when you are just out riding for fun, PETA
people won't attack you becuase your in some camo'd out hunting rig

Great points, atombomb, but really my only concern is I don't want to have it end up looking tackey.

                  Paint it up!

I'd like to see some photos of the cut-job that you did on the overhead bars.

                    tookeymonster,
I don't know if you are right or wrong, but I know these fab pieces we bought and welded to the roll bar are alot stronger then the original rool cage.

                    Dreamer1,
I'm not real good with taking pictures and then posting them, but I hope I'll be able to do it in the next few months.

I understand... don't know how to post photos myself or I might try to sell some stuff in the classifieds.
No rush, don't plan on doing anything to our ranger anytime soon (just hope to get our's out and ride it again sometime soon).

You might try putting blue "painters tape" on the cage and grill to give you an idea of how it would look. Like it.... GO BLUE Don't like it... peel it off

Bottom line, it's your rig. Do what you like with it and don't worry about every one else's opinion. If it makes you happy, that's all that matters.

Hunting isn't supposed to be a fashion show.
