First let me start off by saying that I have been blessed by our Lord with a great family. I have been married for 15 years to a wonderful wife and mother I have three sons that enjoy all things in life that I do. We love our creator, hunting, fishing and baseball. I have been fortunate that my family ownes our own property and we are able to hunt as much as possible (every weekend and all through the Christmas Holidays) and not once does my wife complain. Each of my sons has taken their first deer at the age of 5. I spend a lot of time with them practicing shooting and dicussing shot placement and the importance of making a clean shot. By the time their turn at hunting comes I have confidence that they could get the job done as long as buck fever does not interfere. So this year was Tres' turn. We set out to take this spike that was know Tres' buck that would hang out at one of our bow blinds. Walker, Tres and I were situated in the blind. Walker was the camera man and I was the guide, something I get to do a lot now that my three sons are hunters, I could feel Tres' anticipation as the deer began to filter in to our location. Tres spotted his spike and imediatly went into preditor mode. I could see him follow the buck with his 22 Hornet every step it took. I encouraged him to let the spike come in closer, as the deer approached 50yds Tres took aim and fired. I heard the thump of the bullet finding its mark, our camera man was to say the least extremely excited, he kept yelling "you got him, you got him". Tres could hardly speak as his whole body trembled. I asked him how he felt and he stated great. We reviewed the footage and knew instantly that Tres had harvested his first buck. We exit the blind and follow the trail 40yds to Tres' Spike.
