Need help: which .308 is the best?

I'm in the market to buy a .308. I'm wanting to know the pros/cons between the Savage model 10 and the Remington VTR.

Cabelas has the VTR on sale right now for $599. The Savage runs about the same but I'm just wondering which gun shoots better as I haven't shot either one of them.

Any help is appreciated from the TBH braintrust.

Rems are purdy, and you CAN adjust the triger, good firearm...if the Savage has the accue triger...you will love it, but most are not purdy......it's nearly a toss up...

I have the 308 vtr and its a tack driver. I also have a savage 111 308 and it will keep punching paper thru the same holes. I prefer the Remington probably cause the triangle barrel looks cool but the savage is probably a better shooter. I also have a the savage for sale/trade if your interested.

Savage wth accustock and accutrigger. Unless u plan on doing some custom work on the rem's stock.

every savage I haveever owned has been a great shooting rifle. not as pretty as a remington. Lot of people turn their nose up at Savage cuz they are cheap. Will, so are cheap...price wise. But as far as being a good shooting gun, you cant beat em. If I was lookin at two rifles that were the same price and had my choice, I'd choose the savage.

I just bought the Remington VTR in .223 and it is a VERY accurate gun. It was shooting sub MOA right out of the box with the Hornady VMAX bullets. I am having the trigger tuned and barrel lapped...cant wait to see what it will do then!
