I tell ya the credit did for me. I was looking for a new AC system right at the time they were added to credit list. I already had several quotes when I found out about it. It was new enough that none of the AC companies really knew much about it. I did the research and had all the companies rebid with equipment that met the requirements. I needed a new a 4ton system and some companies like Carrier did not offer units that met the gov't specs. In the end I spent more money, but got a much more efficient system, and the credit pretty paid for most of the difference.

In an era when all you hear about is stuff like energy dependence and global warming, sure seems like they would want to encourage someone like me to keep on making energy efficient improvements each year. I live in a home with 25yr old double pane windows. If I still had a tax credit available I be alot more likely to have them replaced with new energy efficient ones....

Just a small caution for the DIY'ers, make sure you know exactly how to measure the windows before the order is placed. If you order the wrong size, then that's on you. If you have a company come out and do the measuring and installing, then if something goes wrong, that's on them. They should be bonded and insured as well. It won't take too many screw ups with measuring to eat up any and all savings you get from DIY.

Clarity Windows is a great company in the metroplex. Chris Pollard is the owner and a good friend. He'll treat you right!!

I had 4 windows replaced on the north side last month.
I have to say the difference is amazing from the 30 year old aluminum frames. My next electric bill dropped from $380 to $275.
Since I was so happy with the ones I had already replaced I decided to go ahead and replace the rest of the windows in the house..but did a little more shopping around.
Found a company in Plano (Adams Exteriors) that was more aggressive on pricing for the remaining windows. ($1680 vs $2465) for the same exact window.
They were installed last week and they did a great job..

I am happy with the work by both companies and the windows but shopping around sure helped.
