Just bought my first over-and-under shotgun and was wondering what chokes to use for duck hunting. It says in the book not to use Modified, Improved-modified, or Full chokes for steel shot. What do yall think. What chokes should I use in the bottom barrel (first shot) and top barrel (second shot)?BTW, the gun is a Remington 310 SPR made by Baikal.

If you are shooting ducks over decoys, I would use Improved Cylinder in your first barrel and Modified in your second shot barrel.
If you bought aftermarket chokes, it would be Light Modified over Modified. Full is too tight for steel and makes for poor erratic patterns due to the fact it does not deform like lead. Some shotguns do not recommend it due to liability issues and bulging barrels. Some companies provide tighter chokes that can be used with steel but I still wouldn't shoot anything tighter than a modified due to patterning.

Thanks Smart, I'll try that. This hunt is one that I was invited on and there will be 5-stand, wobble, European pheasand hunt, and mallard duck hunt. I'm sure all of the birds are pen-raised and I figured an over-under would work for all of these activities. Also, the ranch rules say only 2 shells can be in ANY gun, so I can't have the third shot. This trip is just a good excuse to buy a new scattergun.
