    Question about arrows, worth it???

My question is this, ive seen carbon arrows that weigh the same, but depending on who makes them, there can be a 100$ difference in price. what are you paying for if they weight the same??? i have some i bought from gander it was 30$ for 6, how is a 100$ set of arrows that weighs the same any better??

    Consistancy of spine,straightness,and weight.
    Durability is a factor also.

the straitness of the arrow, i guess. carbon express maximas have a good memory and also does gold tip pro hunter, i mean you can flex the arrow in your hands and they will shoot the same hole threw paper. that is something you can try with your arrows and see if they shoot the same everytime.

I used to always buy Blackhawk vapors. Good price for a pretty good arrow. When I would spin test (with broadhead) a new dozen, there were usually two or three that weren't perfectly true. I would not hunt with these arrows. When goldtip bought blackhawk, I decided to try a new arrow. Bit the bullet on a bit more expensive arrow (Beman ICS Hunters). My first dozen were 100% on the spin test - ultimately a better value than the cheaper arrow. I'm sold.

X2 i used to shoot the cheap ones and the day that i bought a dozen and only 5 out of 12 spin tested true. i switched and bought the good ones.

There are tools you can buy for this but a good flat surface will show inconsistencies. If the BH "wobbles" while being spun then the insert/BH is not matched to the arrow.
I have been using the Easton Axis arrows with the HIT insert and they seem to to be a good insert that allows a good seat that keeps the BH fairly straight.
It's kinda like a lot of things, you get what you pay for...

I use a spine checker made by Ram Products ,it also checks straightness.

When I was younger and competing in 3D shoots on a regular basis I shot Easton ACCs. Now I shoot Gold Tip XTs and Beman MFXs for hunting. Shot from a properly tuned bow at normal hunting distances (less than 40 yards) there is little to no practical advantage of arrows that are .006 or .003 or .001. If an arrow spins true with a broadhead attached then you're good to go.
