    Nicoderm?

Has anybody tried any of those nicotene gums to try to quit dipping?

    #2
Yep, I did....Hard to dip and chew gum at the same time was my problem...

I need to quit, and I need to do it soon. I have 2 boxes of Nicoderm and some of the Commit stuff in my truck...

Sadly, im weak at the moment and cant seem to throw it out the window (snuff) and just say enough..

If you want it to work, and cut out all access to snuff, im sure they will help some.

I did the patch for a couple of weeks plus Bubble Gum and Jolly Ranchers! Good luck. The second week was the hardest for me. I still get cravings two and a half years later. It's a constant battle so keep it up!

I quit back in May for the millionth time. This time I just flat out wanted to quit. The patch, the gum, you name it I have tried and failed. If you want to quit, just make up your mind to do it and no matter what don't give in. I played a game with myself. Whenever I wanted a dip, I would say, I will put it off until 12 o'clock, then I would put it off again and again. Think of it as a honey do list from the wife...

          Good luck

About 3 years ago I traded a longtime Skoal habit for a Nicotine gum habit. It broke me of dipping but I never got around to following the instructions to gradually reduce the gum till you quit completely. The good news is that I'm tobacco free - the bad news is the gum is a MUCH more expensive nicotine delivery system. ( the WalMart version is the cheapest)

^2 I quit smoking almost exactly a year ago after 15 years of smoking. I'd done it before but it never took for more than a couple weeks. I finally set in my mind that I was going to quit.

Put down the pack and made a game myself. Whenever I got the urge, I'd do some pushups instead. I REEEEEEEEALLY didn't want to do pushups so it was kinda reforcing that I need to get past the urge. Kept that up for a month. Haven't looked back. Still get the urge, but it won't last more than a couple minutes if you can just refocus your mind and deal with it.

                Best of luck to ya!

oh yeah, I still get the urge sometimes. Dove and Duck hunts this year were the hardest. But the urges don't last long anymore. It can be done, like I said above you have to really want to. Not quitting for someone else, just quit because you want to.

i chewed sunflower seeds till my mouth was raw and then i found this fake snuff called smokey mountain and it worked. I ate copenhagen for 12 years and thought I would never quit. I saw a guy at home depot fresh out of surgery with no jaw and I quit the next day. It was tough. been off for 9 months now. good luck

Congratulations to you for asking about this. I am 46, and dipped for 29 years. I quit on Sept. 21st of this year. I was up to about a can and a half a day.

There was a thread on here a while back that was titled "Let's Quit Snuff". I was on this thread, reading some of the postings, and I decided it was my time to quit.

I called my wife, my 2 daughters (ages 14 and 7) into the room and told them that I was done with tobacco. I explained that I was going to be ugly , mean, and nasty for a while, but I wanted to live a long life and share it with them. We all shed a tear.

I got the nicotine gum and it has kept me off of snuff. Sitting in the deer stand was the hardest. At first, and for about 6 weeks, I was going through 15-20 pieces/day. I have weened myself down since September.

I'm now on about 3-4 pieces of gum/day. 1 in the morning, and 1 after a meal.

My goal is to be done with nicotine in 3 weeks.

                              Good Luck to You.
