I like that one! The light would just get the fiber instead of the pins them selves. Might have to try to find those local if I can. I hate to mail order things like that. And I try to avoid 35 south(buda) at all cost.

Cantexduck, I was just going to mention the fact that if you come to Cabela's we can let you try out some sights and see which one you would prefer. We got the new G5 sight with the .019 pins and the light unit on it.

Yankee, have you ever shot that site at night? It looks to me like those pins would blind you.

You'll be surprised how little light you need on the fibers to be able to clearly see the pins.

BTW, my site of choice is Extreme. I have the Sniper on my XT and the RT900 on my Allegiance and Synergy.

When buying a light, either get the one that has a built in rheostat or use the liquid paper method mentioned above. And most of all, practice shooting the rig at night.

I do need to tone it down a little, the reason behind it looking so bright I used no flash when taking it. The camera sucked in all the light so it made it glow/alot brighter then what it really is. I am pretty new on taking pictures or atleast with no flash. There is a setting you can use but I have no idea on what it is, so my camera always stays on Auto LOL!!!!!!.

              Large Bore Peeps

As far as peeps go, I use a Fletcher Max-Hunter. G5 makes one very similar.

              Or....use no peep at all!

I would say now is a great time to learn without a peep then. Tie some serving where the string hits your nose and a kisser button. Maybe you can get away from the peep. I am planning on doing that myself.

I bought one from Kingsway Archery (www.kingswayarchery.com) that has a photo eye similar to that of a feeder motor. As shooting light fades the pin gets dimmer. It does not require a peep, so shooting at a hog at night is easier. I will try to post a pic.

I like the sword sight, too. The pins are too bright at night. I put a layer of yellow gas tape over the light, no holes, and it dims the pins to where you can see them when you need to, but no more. If it's not dark enough to need the light, you can't even tell if the light is on. Which can be a problem, because I forget to turn it off....

The only drawback is that with the light that dim, the 40 yd pin is hard to see, and the 50 is invisible. But maybe that doesn't matter at night, anyway.

If you're planning to get serious about hog hunting, you better learn to shoot without a peep- a kisser button, nose nock and anchoring your hand should be sufficient. If you want to add another 'anchor point' try painting a very thin line about 1 inch long, with "white-out," on the inside edge your riser- about level (horizontally) with your 20-yard pin; and make it disappear behind your string when you are at full draw and locked into all your other anchor points.

If I were you, I'd stay away from sights that use an external source to light your 20-yard pin- get a sight that uses the Tru-Glo Tritium pin! As you found out, all the extra light produced by those 'Sight Lights' can be a REAL pain and RUIN an otherwise great shot! If you're hunting hogs at night, all you should need is a 20-yard pin that you can see and lighting source that'll let you see past the pin! Sure, you can usually get away with putting white-out over the light to cut down how much light it throws; but what's the point in installing something that needs to be modified right out of the box just to make it function properly for your needs? Besides, batteries & bulbs have a tendency to fail at the WORST possible moment! Tritium pins stay lit for 2-3 years before the begin to dim- without ever needing a battery or white-out. Because they dim gradually over a long period of time you'll never have it suddenly die on a hunt and you'll have plenty of time to replace it LONG before it becomes useless. Best of all, you won't have to worry about extra light making it impossible to see your target past the pins!

Using supplemental light (i.e. 'Hawglight, Bowlight, Etc.) is OK when there isn't a moon or the tree canopy is making it too dark; but you're always better off hunting without a light. Plenty of hogs will spook on a light- especially big, smart, boars. I've been killing a LOT more pigs since I quit using a light. I know they works for some guys, but they just don't work for me. Plus, every single one of the best hog hunters I, personally, know has tried them; and none of them use a light. I guess its one thing if you're hunting small fenced in places that are stocked with hogs regularly, and the hogs can't really HELP but come past you. But if you're hunting free range hogs I think you'll do better hunting whenever you can without a light.

I'd recommend getting a Tru-Glo 3-pin that includes a Tritium ("TFO") pin. My buddy just bought one at Cabelas, for his new Switchback, and it only cost him $40. It's a simple sight but TOTALLY adequate and if you should happen to break it crawling through the brush, you won't be cryin' in your beer.

If you're dead-set on a sight that uses a sight light screwed into the frame, I have two Extreme Sniper sights- both with .019 pins. I bought them before I knew any better. I have them laying around as back-ups, just in case, but I'd be happy to sell you one if it'll help you out. They're a GREAT sight for hunting just about everything EXCEPT hogs at night! LOL! Email me or call me at my shop (512-474-8282) if you're interested.

Best of luck and please excuse the long post!
