    Invisible Fence

Does anyone have any info on invisible fences?
I've got to contain my dog, but I need to have it open (no fence)
Are there any good invisible fences and what does it run?
    Thanks.

Petsafe.com I have one of their systems. I had the Innotek contain and train originally and when it went out after several years, I bought a petsafe in ground. Similar system, and very easy to install. Of course the type soil will govern the intensity of your labor. I had to do something to keep my golden pup in the fenced in yard! Now I have Jack Russells which are bred to dig. The in ground fence just keeps them away from the actual fence. I have a niece that uses the same type set up out in the country to keep her dogs close to the house without an actual fence and it has worked well for several years.

I have one that covers a little over an acre. I worked well until my dog learned that he could run through it. I tried turning it up but started shocking him in the house.
I would still recommend them. Mine is by sport dog.

They are as effective as the training you give the dog about them. They aren't an install and problem is solved deal. You have to diligently follow the directions for training your dog with the system you have. They range from a few hundred bucks to over a thousand. Burying the wire is not fun..... An in between solution is a low profile electric fence.

Dogtra puts out a top notch one but it's a little pricy and Innotek has a good one. Petsafe bought out Innotek, but just about anything with Petsafe on it is junk. The new Innotek one has a "run thru" technology but if you train your dog to the fence properly you shouldn't need it.

Here's what I use on my herd of dogs! I've had good luck with Petsafe.

I have the brand that is called invisable fence, we had it installed around 4 acres about 15 years ago, it works well but a hard headed male lab will go through it at times, I paid 2000.00 for it.
