My kids owners manual said 2500. I change mine every year if I am shooting alot of 3D and hunting. If I skip out on the 3D I go 2 years before changing. Which I think is roughly about 5000 arrows before I change strings. With a higher quality string you will get alot more shots out of it than most of the stretchy factory strings.

Strings are like the oil in your truck or car. The more you take care of them the more you will get out of them. Factory strings are made on an assembly line and are prone to stretch and serving separation. Customs like mine are stretched for 24 hours at 300# then served to so there is no separation. Keep them waxed and they will last you several thousand shots. Good luck.

If you keep it waxed a couple of years, just watch where the serving will wear under the nocking point (or rope loop) and where the strings go over the cams, especially the part where there is not a gradual curve but a 'corner'.
Lots of guys buy new bows and replace the factory strings with a much higher quality string on day #1 and keep the factory string as a 'hot spare' in case it's needed. I've snipped my string already with a sharp broadhead early in the morning and still not fully awake- backups are good.
An upgraded string will last longer (better materials and technique putting on), not stretch (once the bow is tuned it stays that way for a long, long time) nor cause your peep sight to rotate to different angles when you look through it.

More than any one person will ever shoot one. Not trying to be smart mouthed, that's just my honest answer. You'll want something new and shiny long long long before the bow physically wears out.
