Rage are the best. They are the only broadhead I will shoot. The deer I killed this past weekend had his spine completely severed by a Rage broadhead. I made a bad shot, but the Rage saved me. That is beauty of these things, they make a marginal shot good, and they make a bad shot lethal. That same head that I shot the deer with was 100% functional when I retrieved it. The blades were not bent or broken, I was able to clean it up and it looked good as new. Of course it will become a pig killer now, but it did its job well Monday morning.
After you figure the cost of your lease, fuel, food, corn, protein, bow, other equipment, etc. $13 for a broadhead seems pretty miniscule to me.

Just another reason I like using fixed broadheads (Magnus Stinger/BuzzCuts).
I can take them apart re-sharpen and as long as they are not bent or broken re-use them without worrying about a failure.
Plus, if you damage a broadhead Magnus makes they are replaced for free if they are damaged

I had bought into all the Rage hype until this year when I shot a buck @ 17yds quartering away and only got about 2" penetration. I could see that the arrow defected upon entry by the changed angle. Shot with Matthews DXT @ 64#. Made me sick. Not in shoulder but high & back of rib cage due to being up 25 feet in stand and quartering away. Changed to fixed blade - cut on contact.

If you knicked a blade on a Muzzy, would you consider that a failure?
I'm like Forrest. Broadheads are a consumable.
I don't think I've ever re-used a broadhead

I'm kidding ... kinda!
I have missed before and when I did, I never found the arrow, so it's a mute point.
95% of the time, I break the arrow, broadhead, or both when I shoot a critter.Last edited by Texastaxi; 12-30-2009, 03:44 PM.

I have always like the fix blade broadheads, but I tried the rage after reading all the great stuff written on here. I won't carry one any longer, because they are a pain. Can't push em into the quiver without a blade coming open. I hunt in some very rough country and it's hard to move around without getting jostled around a lot. I'm sure they work, but just not in my situation. Went back to the Slick Trick and they take everthing I can dish out and still shoot without doing an inspection.
Really liked your deer, congratulations.

It's like paying $56,000 for a new King Ranch F350 and then getting an AM radio because you would never pay $500 for a good radio.
