    Truck toolbox security

Put a tool box on my F150 for the first time today. Just the standard one from Tractor Supply got on the after Christmas sale.
Got to thinking though that it would be pretty easy to pick that cheap little lock or just pry the lid up. Just wondering what others have experienced. Is having a toolbox just an invitation to criminals?

I've seen guys who mount padlock clasps on the lids of tool boxes. Seems like it works, but could be a pain if you are in and out a lot. Of course, any lock would be a pain if you are in and out a lot.

I'm not planning to carry anything of value in there. Emergency tools, soft-side cooler, TP, change of clothes, etc. Maybe golf clubs from time to time.

been running with a tool box for about 10 years. Never carry anything in there you can't afford to loose.

locks are only to keep honest people honest....... if they want whats in the tool box and can't get to it......... they will just take the truck.

99.9% my tool box isn't even locked.

I had some POS take a crow bar to mine many years ago, so i got (2 each) 2"x2"x1/4" angle iron and a 2"x6"x1/4" got some holes punched in the metal in the right places, got them chromed then installed the flat on top and the angle on the side across from the tailgate added a lock and i haven't had a problem in 12 years.

Guess I'll treat it like my truck when I go kayak fishing. I leave the truck unlocked and nothing in there to steal - windows down so some crackhead does not bust the window before even realizing the truck is unlocked.

had mine pried open a while back and about $200 worth of tools stolen. So I'm gonna do a little welding and fix me up something to put a padlock on
