I upgraded 3 D cell Maglites with the LED bulb and love them. No more yellow light and they shoot a much tighter beam. The only drawback (if you can call it that) is that the LED doesn't really do a flood mode anymore.

I have a rechargeable Mag lite. It is about 18 years old and still going strong.
I now use my Streamlight Stinger DS LED a lot more. It is about as bright and lasts longer.

I will admit though that the Mag rechargeable has more penetrating power. If it is foggy the regular bulb is stronger, or when I have to look thru a vehicles tinted window the regular bulb is stronger, the LED's just don't penetrate the same. But still for most uses and for tracking blood the LED is the way to go.

I will say that the I am still using the original bulb in my rechargeable. I did buy a replacement bulb (18 yrs ago) & have that in the original package in my tackle box but haven't had the need to use it.

I have one and I like it. The light shines well in a beam out to 100 yards and farther. I need to pick another one up Thursday.

While we are on the subject of maglights, does anyone know how to get batteries that have corroded inside the maglight tube out?

I have a couple of lights that have the batteries stuck like Chuck!

Maybe try some corrosion x. Spray it down, let it soak for a while. That stuff works pretty good. http://www.corrosionx.com/

I have one that I found in the middle of an intersection, stopped and picked it and like an idiot pointed it at my face to see if it worked. Blinded me in the my left eye for about a minute or two.

I like it allot, it stays in the truck most of the time. Big D size battery model.

                        Drill em out.
If you have any other problems with the mag lite lite the switch, call maglite and they will send you replacement parts free of charge.

Yes, I have the LED on both work and personal 3-D lites.
