One of the best migratory birds there is to eat in my opinion...you can pan fry it, pound it out and grill like a steak, make kabobs, put it in gumbo, bacon wrap it, tons of different ways that i havent even named...tastes alot more like beef if marinated right then fowl...

Never tried to eat anything on a crane except for the breast meat. Lot of meat on one of those birds. If you just wing one an go after it, they will try to get you, aggressive if wounded. I have killed a few with the barrel of the gun by breaking their neck with a wlll placed swing. Saves a shell at close rnage.

i was huntin them out by grandfalls sunday mornin...got a limit of ducks....we ended up with only 3 cranes down but saw thousands...they are everywhere out by the reservoir. got the ducks on the river and then moved to a big pond to catch the cranes comin back in from the feilds....they apparently didnt like somethin because they would only come down to about 75 yards....and yall know how hard they are to bring down....congrats on the birds...im gonna try and go again soon if i find time..i may have to head up tp lubbock next year and give that a goround!

Great pic! People here pay to go to 'observation areas' to watch 'em, sure wish we could hunt those noisy things.
