seems like people are having problems with the wood chips not lasting very long. did you have this problem with yours?

I have a propane smoker, but it is a different brand. I have used it a couple times and the chips didn't last quite as long as I would have liked. I soaked them in water first as well. I am going with larger chunks for the brisket at Christmas. I will report back next Monday if that worked better.

Put mine together Wed and fired it up to season it Thursday. The wood chips did not burn completely up (I filled the pan up). Gonna try and smoke some deer meat pretty soon

Not sure I trust the thermometer that came on it (put my hand on it with it reading 180 ish and it was warm but not hot) but other than that I think it is gonna work for me.

I got one of these last Christmas. I had problems with the chips at first. So I took the smoke box lid and through it in the trash. I quit using the wood chips and started using the chunks of wood. I by the chunks from Academy that are about the size of your fist, then chop them down to smaller chunks with a hatchet. At first I would fill the smoke box up to the point that wood chunks were heaped up about 4" to 6" above the top of the box. That made too much smoke. So what I do now is put about three handfulls of the chopped down chunks in the smoke box. I have to add a few handfulls about every two hours. All is good now. It seems meats have to cook a little longer on this smoker than a conventional smoker.....just my obsevation. Any thing I have cooked be it a brisket, pork butt, or ribs it just seems to take longer. But the meat off of this smoker is just as good as any I have ever tasted.

Decent smoker but throw the chip box away and get you a cast iron griddle (small) and put some wood chunks in there. Works like a champ.
