    Continental Airlines Rant

So my wife flew to Texas for the weekend to visit family. Her flight back to Kansas City was this afternoon. I was at the airport to pick her up. She was scheduled to land at 4:35, but when I got to the airport, her flight was a little delayed and it was scheduled to land at 4:40. No worries. At 4:55 it finally landed. No worries, it was cloudy and that was probably the reason for the delay.
We make our way to the baggage claim. the bags start coming, and after about 6-7 bages they stop. We question this and we are told they will be on the next flight... Which lands at 5:30.. Great. We had plans so we should be okay.
The 5:30 flight arrives, and, you guessed it NO BAGS.... I question this again and I am rudely told, the flight that they are on is still in the air..
90% of the people on the same flight as my wife DO NOT have their luggage either; but here is the kicker; We watched on lady from the 5:30 flight look for her luggage. She could not find it. Her luggage was ACTUALLY on my wife's flight. Her luggage beat her to Kansas City by 45 minutes.
Finally, 6:30 rolls around (1 hr. and 40 minutes later) her luggage shows up.
There was No explanation for the delay. There was No Apologizes for the Delay. And when I ask about the increased fee I had to pay for parking, I received a "Are you Crazy???" Look.... And to think my wife had to pay $20 to check the bag, and then an additional $15 for parking, plus the plans we had for the evening had to be canceled..... Great....

WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO CUSTOMER SERVICE?????? The first thing I checked when we got her bag was her tag. The tag plainly showed her Flight Number 2274.. The flight it showed up on was 3363... Nowhere do any of these numbers match.. Everyone on the flight 3363 had their luggage as well as the 90% from flight 2274... I guess the people on flight 3363 had lighter luggage??? We all ask, yet never received any explanation...

This has to be the craziest thing I have ever seen...

    Sorry for the long rant..

Next time file a lost bag claim at the service window, when your bags arrive they will deliver to the hotel/residence/location of your choice.

During this season, flights will get pushed without all their bags at times, simply to make sure the people get there. There is no FFA recordable for 'bags on time'.

If you really want to make a stink about it, goto www.flyertalk.com and post in the continental forums. The VP of Customer Services has an account there and does read those posts.

But as a Continental Platinum FF, I can tell you, that you wont get far. Your experience doesnt count as an Irregular Ops. BTW by filing the lost baggage claim it escalates your issue, and the bags become trackable on a local level.

      Good luck.

Contiental had my bag arrive on a later flight last month too! Luckily it was a small airport and my dad didn't live too far away.

Funny thing is my wife and I were just talking this morning about how amazing it is that your bags show up where you land given the number of flight changes etc.

          Glad it worked out.

I fly almost weekly. And I can tell you that if you fly anything but Southwest you are gonna have problems. We flew American a couple of years ago and our luggage didn't arrive. Most of the luggage for the entire flight didn't show up. After a plane full of angry passengers, one of the girls at the luggage counter admitted to us that their policy is to bump customer luggage for paying packages/shipments. This was during the holidays and they were shipping a lot of stuff. They did bring our luggage to our house later. But it's a really crappy policy. Once again, fly Southwest whenever possible.

I fly a lot with my work as well. If we had paid for the plane fair, she would have flown Southwest. What actually happened is her current Boss paid for the tickets for her to go home for the weekend. I am more upset about it than she is. She is just happy to be home and that her bags finally arrived.
The tickets for her to go home was two-fold. She has an Aunt in Lexington that has cancer and her days are limited. The cancer has progressed and her aunt has made the decision to NOT procede with any treatments. She had mentioned that at work and her boss purchased the tickets. That and she has really been missing family since the last time she saw any of her family was in July. Great gesture on his part and I am sure she will never tell him about this incident.
I too fly Southwest due to cheaper fares and BETTER SERVICE. This is not the first time we have had issues with Continental. One thing is for sure though; this has sealed the deal that I Will Not Fly with them Again...

IowaHunter said it perfectly, The only thing they care about is NOTHING...
