My Lacy pup is coming along great, he has found a few deer with 1 of them being a pretty long tough track but I need to keep challenging him through the off season. The deer we have killed have all but bled out so I have only been able to stock pile about a pint of blood. Anyone in the Harris, Montgomery, Walker, San Jacinto, or Houston County area that can get me some blood I would really appreciate it!Or if in Austin area I could get my Dad to get it and bring it when he comes. Thanks

How are you storing it? I have had a tough time using it once i have frozen it. Tried lots of different things...
thinned it in a blender and added saline solution to it, then froze it. When I thawed it to use, it gummed up every "dispenser" I tried to use. Had to move to just pouring out small patches. Works, but I would love to hear of your method.
Don't mean to hijak, but thought I would ask.

I haven't had any trouble but I don't use a dispenser. I just use a small piece of sponge, dip it and squeeze slightly when I want a drop. I haven't been at this long either. Before season I was using blood out of packages of meat also and it is better than nothing but not near as good as the real thing.

You can freeze it with or without blending. Once thawed, blend to get rid of the clots, then strain into whatever you plan to use to dispence it.
I also have several folks collecting for me. Brent since you are close and we have talked about getting together and working our dogs, if I have some, you have some.

Ed, as I am just getting into this I would say for a pup there is never enough. And as for laying lines, it depends on each dog and the stage of training it is at. For new pups a good solid line works best. As the dog progresses, less and less is needed.
Are you offering up collection skills as well??
