    Windows 7 Computer Nerd Needed

I videoed a really good buck fight this evening between to really good bucks. I want to post it, but Windows Movie Maker has other plans. I went to download it, and it said the only option was to download the whole tape (60 minutes), because it's a high definition camera. I'm really not interested in sifting through 60 minutes worth of tape on the computer to edit it. Is there any way to just download a portion of the tape that the fight is on, even though it is an HD camera? Or am I just SOL? Any help is appreciated, especially if it is given in a language that a computer idiot could comprehend.

If you have a web cam, you could run the DVD over the television, then capture the screen using the web cam.

May want to play with brightness settings to get it right but, pretty quick, down and dirty way of getting it done. Especially if it's a quality TV screen.

J are you just trying to import a section of the video to movie maker?

Read an article today about complaints of windows 7. It was on the home page of Yahoo. They were saying people were having big problems with movie maker. Seems they did away with its compatibility. You may want to check Yahoo and see if it is still there.

I got a camera thingy on top of my laptop screen, but I don't know how to use it. I know very little when it comes to these things.

I want just like a 2-3 minute portion of the video. It has an option to download just a portion for a regular digital video camera, but when I plug in my HD camera it'll only give me the option to download the whole 60 minute tape. I may just punt this computer off into the bruch and save me the headaches!

Vista wouldn't let me do it either, but I could kind of cheat my way into making it work. I guess Windows figured out my cheat and "fixed" it.

TTT. After a few more failed attempts, I'm about to beat the fire out of this computer!

Looks like you need to get different video editing software.

Maybe not want to hear but I would consider another program, like Sony Vegas.
