iphone users - question about memory size

I'm making the plunge today, I can get a 16gb for $199 or 32gb for $299; at some point I'll need the extra memory but not for quite some time. Can you add extra memory later and if so wouldn't it be smart assuming it's a year before I need the extra 16gb to wait assuming the cost for memory is at least $100 or less???

Or, are you stuck with the 16gb memory if you buy that phone?

I bought the 8GB phone for $99 and have had no problems needing more memory. But once you buy - no you can not upgrade it.

Just for your info., I got the 32 GB (only because the store was out of the 16 GBs) and I was antsy. I have downloaded over 100 songs and 50 apps, 10 video clips, 75 pics on my camera roll.... and still have 28.2 GB available. Overkill deluxe on my part.

I bought an 8gig and should have bought at least a 16gig.

My 8 gig is full to the max. I have close to 1000 songs on it though.

I have almost 900 songs - 2 movies and about 3000k pics. on mine and I am getting close to being maxed - mine is a 16gb - I am actually syncing my phone right now taking about 1000 pics and both movies off - if I had it to do over I would get the 32 gig - but in reality the 16 gig is plenty.

it pretty much comes down to how many video files you plan on storing on it at a time. if it is not many, then go with the 16. if its a lot, then go with the 32

16GB can hold thaousands of pics and songs. I mean really if you have that many songs how will you listen to all of them?

I'm a tech junky and I have the 8gb iPhone 3G. Right now it has 269 songs, 3 feature length movies, 10 podcasts (6 hours worth), 2 audiobooks, 41 apps, and 85 photos on it. I have 1.8gb free. I could probably fill up a 32gb, but 90% of that content would never get used. Unless you need 15 hours of video or 5,000 songs on your pod/phone a 16gb should be fine. As remarked earlier in the thread you cannot upgrade the memory in them.

my 16gig has more memory than I will ever use.... but if you plan on haveing all the videos on there, pop the clutch and get the 32 gig.
