Sorry it has taken alittle while to post it up(tring to catch back on my sleep).
The meeting time was set to around 5 30 on Sat. afternoon. Steve called me around 12 30 to say that the time might be moved up b/c some pigs were being seen during the day. About 3 he called and said come on lets roll. I met up with Steve and his buddy Mike at around 3 45 on sat. We then went to Mike's house to get the dogs ready. We were heading to a place outside of town that is packed with hogs/sign. Right from the start you could tell that Steve and Mike are hardcore about this. I had about 100 question about the method and how about to do it. We loaded up and headed out to the place. After about 100 calls to Don we were able to drop in and pick him up. The landowner was out at the property when we got there. About 100 yards from the camp house was a feeder. They had seen a large group of hogs at the feeder earlier in the day. From the min. we got there Steve was ready to let the dogs out. After alittle while of waiting the call was made to get ready. The group was Steve,Mike,Mike's little girl,Don, and my self. We set off in a direction that would allow the dogs to use the wind, which was gusting mighty hard. After about an hour or so of running a few trails and fence rows the radio went off. The people at the camp reported that the herd of pigs had returned to the feeder. Luckly we were only @ 200 yards on the downside of it. We picked up the pace and the dogs took the scent and it was on. When the first dog sounded, everyone took off. I wasnt sure what to do so I ran with them. We busted through a tree line and it was pigs screaming and dogs baying. Steve yelled at me to grab alittle one that his dog had. I ran up to Trapper(i think). Everytime i would try to grab the little pig he would turn around. He wasnt going to let me have it. I almost had to grab his leg but I was able grab the pig after a few attempts. The rest of the dogs had another pig up in a thicket. Steve was yelling go get him. I handed off the lil pig and went into thye thicket. It wasnt the thickest brush but when I got their it was me 5 dogs and a sow that wasnt too happy. She took off again and the dogs stopped her again just on the outside of the thicket. I busted out of the trees and Steve and Mike were there. They yelled Grab the back leg so I did, what next??????? grab the other they yelled. Ok so whats next?? flip her over and hold her down. So I did. I wasnt sure what to do but their were there to help giving me directions. My heart was pumping like crazy. Mike came in and I helped tie the sow up. What a rush. We had two.(yes little piglets count in my book).
