    Range Finder

Which range finder Nikon ProStaff 550 or the Leupold RX 600 would you recommend? I am getting my son one for Christmas and think that I have narrowed it down to one of the those two.

I have always heard that the Nikon rangefinders were better than the Leupolds, but I have no experience with them. If your not set on those 2 brands I really like the Bushnell Scout 1000 you can get it with or without ARC. I'm just waiting on the funds to get to a point to where I can upgrade my rangefinder. Good luck with what ever you decide on I wish my dad would consider hunting stuff for me, but he refuses to even consider any hunting ideas as christmas presents because he claims I already own everything...lol

I've got the 550, and like it, haven't messed with many others, but its light and small and works great. When I was researching them I kept finding my way back to this one. They also have the one that does the angle calculation, but unless you are hunting in extreme elevation change you don't really need it!

I LOVE any and all Leupold products.. Just last week I sent in my pinnacle binos that I ran over with my hunting cart and bent up. They are going to fix them within 15 days and send them back at no cost to me.. That has always been my experience with Leupold.

I also have the RX2 Range Finder and its fabulous also.. I had it go down on me once last hunting season and they overnighted me another one so I could keep on hunting.. Again, at no cost..

Go with the Leupold and you will never look back!

I like the "orange" lettering in the display of Leupold better than Nikon's gray/black. It shows up much better.

I sent my Leupold bino's back on 11/19 of this yr and have yet to hear from them about an update... Hope the outcome is a good one... This thread got thinkin', so I sent their support dept. an email asking for an update...

No hunting experience with mine, but I went with the Nikon.
                    Small and light....seems very accurate.
