I put a wireless fence up on 5 acres. But I just laid the wire on top of the ground along the perimeter. Works great. I do have to patch the wire from time to time. critters like to eat it.

Like was said above, train them. I took both my dogs for a walk up to the fence.

They got zapped. we would down another 30 yards and go to cross. a few times of that ... they know when to stop.

Just about all of my neighbors have them DJ, the key to it from what they say is definitely the training.... A few of them had the system installed by Invisible fence and the tech that installed it put out the little wire flags at the perimiter and worked with the dog a little, with a little contnued work the dogs had it down.... Another neighbor put his in hiself, didn't do any perimiter flags and didn't work with the dogs and they would just blow through it and stay out all day till he got home... Needless to say after a few months he added the flags and did a little work with his labs and they never leave his place now....

We have had 2 different ones. Right now we have the wireless one with 2 transmitters to make the area larger. They work great with our Brittneys but don't trust them if they are not far from danger (Streets or what ever) if the electricity goes out then the fence does not work or they may run thru the zone and never stop. it says to train your dog for 2 weeks it took our male 30 mins. and he is great with it. The female just does what the male does so it works on her also. So Yes they do work and are worth the money...
