I agree here! His third molar is extremely worn with the dentine far exceeding the enamel. Another shot of the jaw from the top would help get a better look at molar 4. I agree at putting him at 5.5!

These are from a slightly more top view - don't currently have a pic of the jaw removed.

4.5 years... I can see a "possibility" of him being 5.5 because of the significant wear on the 4th tooth but with all the sharp edges on the 5th and 6th tooth I lean to 4.5. Tooth wear is NOT I repeat is NOT 100 % correct and nowhere near that, for a little extra money and maybe some peace of mind for you and your hunting partners spend the money and send it to Deerage.com and have them do a Cementum Anuli to get a more accurate age.

Live weight was 140#. My buddy shot one the next morning that was mature and healthy, but had a big ol' block head but a little body at only 119#.

5.5--if he was 6.5 the 3rd tooth (counting from the rear) would be flatter. And, I like to look at both sides of the jaw--deer are like people--some need to see the orthodontist for braces.

4.5 at most. Ridges on teeth 5 & 6 still sharp.

According to Texas Parks and Wildlife guide to aging deer, available on their website, the deer is 4 and 1/2 or 5 and 1/2 y.o.
