Very Dissapointing SEG. B "Hag" hunt (long read)

Well let me start out by saying it was actually a very good hunt in that I saw alot of deer. I'll start this story back in April, I was reccomended a supposedly great archery shop, here in the North Texas area. So I went to see about getting a drop a way rest put on my bow, while I was there I was told I should replace my strings and cables, which I said ok. After getting home my shooting was less than desired, I was not grouping any where close to what I was before taking it there. So I took it back, then the guy there tells me I'm shooting the wrong draw lenght and that I will need to change my cam out to lenghten my draw, and by the way your gonna need longer arrows. Which I also buy, I take it home and still not shooting like I was before. So I take it back to him and at this point I can tell he is getting pretty annoyed with me, although I have pretty much spent enough money, that I could have bought a new bow. This guy tells me its me the shooter, that I'm the problem, he says it jokingly. But I know my shooting ability and I know I'm not the problem. On tuesday before my "HAG" hunt in seg.B I took it back over to have him look at it before I hunt he says everything looks fine. I'm shooting field tips at 20 yards but still not grouping them to my liking. Friday morning of my hunt I see three really nice shooter bucks in the 130 to 160 class, but they never present a shot for me. Saturday morning a 150 class 12 pt comes in he's at 20 yards quartering away I draw, aim, release and miss, my heart just sank. I start looking at my bow because I know somthings not right with my bow. I discover after closely looking at it that my string, arrow and sight pins don't line up. I try to adjust them the best I can. Sunday morning three does walk in, I decide I will try and punch my ticket for next year but again I miss. At this point I decided to get down and call a cousin of mine that lives in Gordonville Texas, he's very knowledgable on bows, I explain to him what has happened. He tells me to bring it by and he will take a look at it, within seconds of picking up my bow he tells me it looks like my arrow rest is 3 to 4 milimeters out of square. He gets a millimeter gage and sure enough its out 4 millimeters, he squares it up and has me shoot at 20 yards, I'm stacking arrows in a silver dollar group now. I go back for the afternoon hunt and don't see anything else my hunt is over. I will never go back to this bow shop again they've got their last dime out of me!

So you went to Hag with a bow that you could not shoot well, missed and you are mad?

Sounds like you were hoping for a hail mary?

While it sounds like the archery shop was not helpful, shame on you for even attempting to shoot an animal with a bow you knew was not shooting well. That is Unethical.

What shop? So the rest of us can steer clear of disaster.

Have to agree with Q on this. You should have taken care of this long before your hunt

Unless you damage something walking in or somehow on your way I feel you should have caught this problem shooting it in. Im not saying the shop did a good job but it seems this is on you

didn't someone once say that madness is doing the same thing and expecting a different result?

I'm wondering how you possibly shot well enough to qualify for the hunt?

You had basically 8 months to have your bow ready. If I was heading to Hagerman for a chance at a deer of a liftime my bow would be perfect in every way possible.

Sorry about the misses, I know it's gut wrenching, but it could have possibly been prevented. Is that the only bow shop around? Good thing is that you know where some good ones hang out and they might be bigger next year.

I wouldn't hunt if I didn't think my equipment was good to go.
