    Help! Scott Release

I picked up my release on Saturday to do some shooting and the triger was froze up on it. I put some Quantum Hot Sauce oil on it and it loosend up a bit but it's still tight. What should I do? I will need it for a hunt on Tuesday and need to do some shooting between now and then. Have you guys ever taken these things appart?

Hmmm. That's strange! I've got 2. Both Mongoose's and haven't had that problem. They're held together by pins. I squirt mine with silicone spray every once in a while to keep em smooth.

I have shoot ONLY Scott "calipers" for about 15 years and never had that issue. I did send one in to the factory for a new strap though. I would think a good cleaning would do the trick.

I have an itty bitty goose for years with no problems. Look inside it, there should be an allen screw that adjusts the force to release it. Did it loosen and back-out too far and now catch? Otherwise, call Scott Archery tech support in the morning.

          Phil,
See if you can find some Aero-Kroil spray it should do the trick. Caution only use a little bit it is the best penetrating oil you can use, but it has a smell to it. If you lived in Houston you could stop by and i would help you with it.

Prolly dirt or grit in there binding it up. Not too much to taking one apart couple Allen Heads

I was going to suggest gunscrubber or carb cleaner but it might have a scent to it.

Maybe spray it out with an air hose or even one of those cans of air they keep around the office to blow the computers out with.

I have been shooting the same Scott rope release for at least 20yrs and I have had 0 problems with it. I keep waiting for the rope to get worn out on it but it keeps hanging on

I found an old Scott in my closet the other day. It was all gummed up, so I hit it with carb cleaner. Seemed to work fine on loosing it up, but I would be worried about scent if you need to use it by Tuesday. Also, I've had the pleasure of using Scott's customer service before. Albeit four years ago, I was more than pleased with how I was treated. Try sending them an e-mail, I'd bet they'd have a fix for you. From my experience with them, they are a great company.

After hunting 9 straight days in the pouring rain in Illinois, my Little Goose was complete froze up. I oiled it and it freed up. Just keep it oiled and working the trigger.

Ill try tapping out the pin that holds the triger. Still not as free as it was.

Carb cleaner should evaporate and not leave any odor. Silicon spray smells less than oil, powdered graphite less than that. I can't imagine what kinda crud you got inside it, that will not either dissolve in water or carb cleaner.
