    Gas can spout that works?

Has anyone found one of the newer gas cans that has a spout that actually works easily?
Several I have purchased in the recent past were spring loaded or required holding a lever open while pouring. Trying to get an ATV tank filled, while holding the spout mechanism open with one hand and the other holding a full 5 gallon can, caused spillage and very slow filling.

I have seen the new Blitz cans sold in various stores and the new spout looked like a real pain to operate.

I use 4 5-gallon cans to take fuel to the lease. They are starting to show there age.

Also is there a way to syphon gas from the newer trucks? I tried a small piece of tubing but no success.

Thanks in advance for any enlightenment.

man I have had the same problem. I looked it up online and they all have that pain in arse spout on it due to some new saftey regulation. You can find the old type spouts on ebay somtimes but they are hard to come buy.

a siphon hose called the wizard or something to that extent. Has a ball in the hose. Shake the hose and gas goes in. quick easy with no mess. they sell for around 9 dollars at academy.

I noticed that on some of the 1 gallon cans that they have the plain old open spout. After having the same problem on my 5 gallon cans, I bought a 1 gallon can just for the spout!

I know what you mean about those spring loaded doohickeys. I got more gas on the ground than I did in the tank when I tried to fill my mower with one!

The new cans don't even have an air hole on them. Takes forever to fill something up. Ya either gotta poke a hole in the top or take the spout off and pour directly. End up spilling a little at first but well worth the time you save lol

Having lived through the jeep can era and other gas cans that actually WORK, I'll be watching this thread closely. This is one of my pet peeves!

I am considering finding a plastic top that will fit and put a clear piece of tubing on it.

As far as the syphon goes, I have one of the "wizard" type and they work great on the older vechicles BUT the new ones have some sort of blockage after the first bend that prevents the hose to pass by. I thought a smaller tube with some "backbone" would do it but same deal. Can the blockage be removed?......easily??
It would be so easy to drain from my truck as needed in camp.

I think the motorcycle gas cans work the best, these new style gas cans are a pain in the rear.

I have done the same thing. Alternatively, make a trip to a state that doesn't have the regulation, and hope they still have some of the "old" style. I will be checking on my way to KS in a week or so.

This is something that frustrates me as well. Poured gas all over my 4 wheeler last weekend trying to fill it. Had to get out the dishwashing soap and scrub the muddy thing because it smelled like gasoline. Of course then you get on it and ride it to the stand area and you smell like it too.
