That "letter" has been bouncing around for a number of years. I'm skeptical of it, I can't think of any reconnaissance Marine that would break OPSEC and broadcast his AO to the world in a letter like that.

This is true. OPSEC and PERSEC are things you don't break if you want to keep breathing.
