    busted in the fog

I still have not brought home any meat this season, but for brief moment this morning I thought that might change. At 6:45. I look up to see a deer presenting a perfect head down broadside shot, the problem was the fog was so thick I couldn't tell if it had head gear or not. Before I could focus enough thru thwe fog to see details it was gone. So my "0 fer" continues. I can't take much more of this

A casualty of the antler restriction. Did you ever see what it was?

I have never killed a deer with my bow, I will not be on this lease after this season, I have no reason to be picky on my first deer. I had a perfect view of the vitals just could not be sure of head gear. It may not be the popular opinion but if it were not for antler restrictions and I know it was a legal deer I probably would have taken the shot.

you bet first bow kill is anything legal. dont be forced to be a trophy hunter. i agree with the antler restriction not allowing you to make the shot. better luck next time.

You made the right choice, a ethical hunter doesn't shoot anything that he/she can't properly identify, safety is a big part of this.
