    Paint Thinner On Arrows??

This is a strange question, but I'm thinking about using paint thinner to take the label (red part) off some CX Maxima arrows. I'm wanting them to be all black.

Will the paint thinner hurt the arrow at all?

Acetone or lacquer thinner will work, don't know about paint thinner. If you soak a rag and wipe the arrow with it you should be fine. I've heard you don't want to soak the shaft in that stuff, though.

I know acetone will take the "label" off of the axis arrows.

use acetone, paint thinner wont work that well. as long as you dont soak it in the acetone, just wipe it on and off with a rag you will be fine.

Sunday I was messin around with some Maxima arrows and discovered a Green Scotchbrite pad took the paint right off with no damage to the arrow. And it was pretty easy and quick. And it was a new pad that I used.

Don't keep it on there for very long. Remember that there is a fine layer of glue holding carbons together and any solvent will weaken it after a while. I use lacquer thinner because it does not leave much residue.

Why would you want to take it off?

Acetone on a paper towel will remove most paint used, and if you're quick I don't think will harm the arrow.

BUT, take if from me, soaking the end of the arrow in a tube of acetone for 20 minutes to try to get the old glue off the 1st time you try to re-fletch your arrows, will cause them to break when shooting right at the junction of where the acetone level was in the tube. Luckily mine broke when they hit the target an not when I shot them. Stupid is as stupid does I learned again. The Scotch Brite pad mentioned does work very well, too.

Another vote for the lacquer thinner. I've used is to clean off reside from my target on my arrows. Works great.
