Maybe wes or someone else will chime in. I had tethering on mine for a while until the new 3.0.1 or whatever upgrade it was blocked it out. I have since been back to the site that has it and cannot get it to download on my phone. Sucks paying for additional internet at home again!!! That was the only reason I was keeping my iphone!

If you have updated your phone past 3.0.1 then you might have difficulty.

        You have several options.

I know you can reload a previous OS (so 3.0.1 or earlier) but I am not the guys to walk you through those steps. If you can do that, you can use the site that Blue tick gave you to get tethering and you can go through a few more steps to get MMS.

The other and way more versatile option is to jailbreak your phone. There are several threads on here about jailbreaking plus there are several other sites that give detailed instructions.

Wes is the offical TBH iPhone Guru. He should be able to answer most questions or be able to direct to where the answer is.

        Good luck

woody, I had my phone jail broke and started having problems with the springboard crashing and a couple of times the phone itself. That was when the new OS came out, have they solved those problems? What tethering are you using now?

I jailbroke my phone too and had all kinds of problems with it. Like my voicemail quit working and phone got slow and would lock up at least once a day. so I had to restore the phone completely and I lost all of my info, contacts, pics and notes. it was the worst thing that had to any phone Ive ever had.

I never updated past 3.0.1 and I am still using the one that you posted above. My phone isn't jailbroken currently. I found a way to update the carrier settings when At&t released the MMS so that hasn't been an issue for me.

There are some new jailbreaking programs out there that might be more stable now. I stay up on the iphone happens using www.iphonehacks.com. There is a bunch of good info there and on several other sites.

I restored mine to original as well, except for a couple of things. With the jailbreak, I put on a battery % meter and my name at the top. When I restored my phone to factory, those things stayed and will not go away. So, with that, my thoughts are after a jailbreak a complete restore doesn't work!

so I have to jailbreak to tether?

I've got a ringtone saved on my computer(in an email) that I want on my phone, how do I put it on my iphone.

Wes, when are you gonna have a hands on class?

Billy bring your laptop to camp this weekend and I can do that for you. You need to download Itunes to your computer though before hand and download the ringtone to your computer so we can get to it at your place.

I can't help you on the tethering though.

I had that same issue when I updated the software. Go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings and it will return those back to factory. Also, if you use "Categories" to create folders, and then do a Restore (doing away with the Jailbreak), all of the apps that were in the folders are now invisible to you. The phone and I-Tunes still think they are installed, but there is no icon for them. "Reset all settings" fixed that as well.

I also just did a jailbreak and my voicemail box started saying it was full to people trying to leave a message, but my iPhone showed my voicemail box was empty. I did a reset this morning and received 26 unheard messages. I owe some customers apologies for not returning phone calls.
