Based on his original post, the way the deer rolled away I would say it is an inch above the spine and he backstrapped her. The wound we see here, if I remember, was the entrance which made the exit higher on the backside due to her roll...

The mythical void does not strike again.....lol.

It's the "Over 50 eyes" model. Easier to see.

and what does the other side look like?

I see the trail camera, course it's a Moultrie, so it probably didn't get the shot......
We'll see if it picked up the mark on the other side. That model was a replacement from a month and a half ago so it's working pretty well.

4" lower and it blows out both her lungs and makes for a short track.

I'm going to watch her and see how she looks come Thanksgiving weekend. May take her with the 25-06, don't believe she will stand over corn without being tense.

Glad no one is buying into the infamous void theory.
        You missed the one above

Above the spine I do believe

Deer do some crazy tricks when you shoot at them with a bow. Had a buddy shoot a doe in Arkansas several years ago. Shot her on the left from 20ft up a tree and the arrow exited the top of the right shoulder. Deer fell down on the ground and rolled when he shot. Said he never would have believed it if he had not seen it.

I knew she would make it.

I personally enjoy deer with markings on them. I like to try and keep track of deer and see how far they travel and how many years they hang around. I had a doe with no tail that I watched for 7 or 8 seasons.

had the same thing happen a few years ago on a mgmt buck. I got my nephew to shoot it with a 243 and did a necropsy or autopsy(not sure witch one applies) anyway no organ damage observed some muscle tissue was healing along with the skin. it was quite amazing to see.

She will make it, no problem............... unless of course you go and get revenge and aim a tad lower!!!!!!!!!!!! lol

Last year we caught a 3.5 year old multi-tine buck on camera in Kansas that had an entire arrow shaft lodged between his left shoulder blade and chest, angled straight down. We ended up catching multiple photos up until end of February. At that point we never got another photo and assumed he had finally got an infection and died.

Well in early October of this year we pick up photos of a neat looking buck and on the third photo he had turned enough where we could notice the extremely huge scare from the arrow hole of the previous year. They are tough animals.

I will post those photos if I still have them around.

Oh and great photo of the doe.

Launched an arrow on my first buck/deer ever 3 wks ago today. Hit him high just like your's. No blood trail, and no deer, obviously. Good to see that your's survived just fine, which gives me hope that my buck will survive just the same. Thanks for the pic.
