    Release the HOUNDS!

This is an open invite for one person to join me this Saturday night 4/21/07 in Burnet for a hog dog hunt. First come, first serve.

    Requirements:
    1) Must be a newbe! The intention here is to allow an interested party the opportunity to experience the lure of hunting behind good dogs.
    2) Must be able to provide housing arrangements for Saturday night IE hotel or short drive.

    Rules:
    1) NO GUNS and NO DRINKING. NO EXCEPTIONS!
    2) Dog safety is first and foremost.
    3) Yours comes in a close second. If things get hairy or you feel uncomfortable, step back.

    Objective:
    1) Due to an increasing interest here on TBH, I would simply like to do what I can to help afford an opportunity to those who would not otherwise have the chance.
    2) Promote increased acceptance and understanding of hog doggin by bow hunters (I am both)
    3) HAVE FUN!
    4) KILL PIGS!

    Specifics:
    1) Hunt will be conducted on a new piece of property. We are there at the land owners request to help control the feral swine population. We have hunted this property a couple of times and we have a 100% success rate thus far. This is a good hunt however, it is not guaranteed by any means. Regardless of success, you will get to see good dogs work.
    2) We respect the property as if it were our own and I expect any guest to do the same.
    3) We will be hunting 2 grown dogs and 3 puppies(under 1.5 years old) + catch dogs.
    4) We do hunt dedicated bay dogs and catch dogs. Once a catch dog is released, we will do everything we can to let you get your hands dirty. If you hesitate, we will not. The safety of our dogs is always #1 priority which means that we get in and control the pig as quickly as possible to minimize the potential of a dog getting cut.

Depending on the response I receive here, I may extend it again in the future. There will most likely be another TBHer in attendance on this hunt and I will allow him to identify himself if he so chooses. I am not sure that I would want to be associated with me

If everything stated here is amicable to you and you would like to attend, Post away........

If you meet the requirements listed and you are accepting of the stipulations...... You are first come.

No need for room arrangements I don't think. We will be hunting 45 min from Georgetown off of 29.

Do me a favor though and make darn sure that you will be able to make it. I don't want anyone else to miss out if you have to fold.

Plan to be in Bertram about 2 hours before dark.

Bring the longest bladed sheath knife you have. (within reason, no need for a sword)

              Bones,
My parents and some other family live in Bertram. Where exactly are you hunting and who is the land owner(If you don't mind me asking). I may know them and I know my family likely knows them for sure. My uncle has a large piece of property there and has a hog problem and I may be able to get you in the door there.

Nice gesture, Bones! Good luck this weekend. (Does this mean you're not going to the Levi Baur shoot?)

cwill, This particular land is in Burnet. The family name is Baker. It is pretty new to us and we dont know the whole family so......... That is about all that I know about them besides that is is a family co-op type holding. Come to think about it, we dont have any land in Bertram besides the White water springs neighborhood. Old ladies got tired of the pigs rooting up flower beads

Court, I have to work on Saturday, upgrading and re-establishing security measures due to a recent release of employees. By the time I am out of there, I will only be able to make the tail end of Levi Bauer so......... Im gona go kill some pigs to make up for the loss.

All others, Thank you for your support. If positive response continues, I will have to do it again.

                              Steve
