    question about broadheads

I was thinking about getting some new broadheads since the only ones I have are the ones my bf gave me I heard that the Slick Trick razortrick broadheads are better for those of us that have a low draw weight. Is this true? Any suggestions on what I should get?

I havent had a chance to shoot the razor trix, but I have heard good things about em. I do like slick trix, though.

      whats the difference?

The one's my bf gave me are wac'ems I think they're his favorite, and he gave me his last 3, I feel bad using them since we can't find more and I've searched everywhere. It was sweet of him to give them to me but I know how much he likes them.

I have another question that might be stupid but bear with me, I'm still learning. Do you hunt with the same broad had that you practice with? or do you keep that just for practice. I mostly use my fieldpoints because I practice alot but I didnt know if that was something that you shouldnt do, use the same one or not or does it even matter? Like I said I'm still learning.

razor trix are a cut on contact bh where as slick trix have a bone breaker/ chisel tip. the cut on contact seem to work better with lower draw weight bows.

I have a several dull/ old slick trix that I practice with. New, razor sharp bh are in my quiver for hunting. When I got to the range or a 3d shoot, I have field tips on my arrows, but when I practice at home. I shoot broad heads. I dont care how good my field tips fly. I want my broadheads dialed in.

Today, there are a lot of great bh on the market. I have never shot the razor trix or the slick trix and I don't even know what their cost is. But for my money, I don't think one can go wrong with Muzzy 3-blde 100 grains.

I haven't used the razor trix either. Are they fixed or opening, and what weight(85gr-100gr...)? I would definately not use the same ones for hunting and practice, unless you change or sharpen blades really good. If you can afford to, I would recommend using at least one just for practice. Be sure to check that your arrow spins without any wobble before you use one that blades are changed or sharpend. I don't know much about the opening types on low draw weight, but I've used plenty of those types on my 70# bows, some work ok, some not. Most are ok on a broadside, or slightly quartering away shot, but I don't like on steep angles. I keep going back to fixed blade. Now using Stinger Buzzcuts 100gr. Love them.

Muzzy 3 blade fly high and left out of my bow. Slick Trick hit the same spot as my field tips.

I think I'll give those razor tricks a shot.

Have any of y'all seen Wac'ems? I've looked everywhere and even emailed the company sales guy twice and he never responded. I was hoping to pick up a few for my bf since he likes them so much but I havent had any luck.

Look at Innerloc. They make a 65 grain falcon. My soon is shooting 42#'s at a 22 inch draw. They are on Victory 500 and he is getting 203 fps. They are very easy to tune and fly great.

Stingers are great sharp heads and lifetime guarantee. Easy to sharpen too since they are 2 blade and you could shoot them into a target run them over a stone a few times and then hunt them.

I would suggest the 2 blade Magnus Stingers. You'll get better penetration with the 2 blade at the lower draw weight. As Glen mentioned they are easy to sharpen and have a lifetime guarantee.

You could also try the Montecs. They have a 85 grain option.

You also live in the same area as Matt who makes the Atom broadhead. Maybe you could talk him into a couple of samples or get him to deliver them to you. They hit exactly where field points because there is no blade to plane on. No need shooting them into the target so you can practice with your field points and hunt with the broadhead.

As far as practice blades being used for hunting. I personally don't do it, but if you are resharpening before the hunt then it's OK. I wouldn't take one from pract to hunt without resharpening first.

What kind of draw wieght are you shooting?

My wife is only shooting 40# and she uses the 85g slick tricks.....they fly great out of her rig and the ram she shot did't make it 10 yards after a pass through shot.

mine are 100, I think. What is the difference between the 85 and 100 and why do you go with one over the other?
