what should i quote this guy for this gun?

my buddy's uncle wants to sell a winchester model 70 chambered in .243 wssm. its the coyote laminate version that retails for about $780. its got a nikon 6.5-20x44 (i think monarch) that retails for like $600. he won the package at a delta waterfowl banquet and really has only shot it a couple times. the reticle on the scope is too thin for him to see without glasses so he wants to sell the whole thing. i really have no idea what kind of price i should name him though. any ideas? thanks

i have checked gunbroker and only found like one gun and it wasn't the exact thing he has iirc. i was thinking about a grand too but i dont have that money so was hoping for maybe a little lower. i like this guy and see him pretty often so i dont want to make an unreasonable offer or rip him off. any other ideas?
