Shot a buck -then sorry?

Ever shot a buck then was sorry afterwards? I have now!
Sat. morning i shot a 8 point that came hobbleing up,even though he was moving pretty good (he was acting like the rut was on). About 80 yards i grunted him and he turned his head to me and i saw what i thought was about a inch to a inch and half outside each ear.I had him at a 3 !/2 yo. With him hobbled I went ahead and took him. Let me tell you when i walked up my heart sank some. Looks like the dogs or yotes had been after him but he probally would have healed up ok. He made 13 but just barely (13 and a quarter). I like the meat and know some say you cant eat the bone but maybe this guy could have been ok. Not sure if neighbors would have like him wilk or not. Cant post picture from work so ill try tonight around 11:30 when i get home.
